About Le Ring By Outsider
Stéphane "The Outsider" Malenou — Founder & CEO
Born in Douala, Cameroon, and raised in Yaoundé in a family of six children, Stéphane Malenou found boxing at age 12, taken to his first club by coach Félix Kameni Tchatchoua, who became his mentor. Trained at the Institut National de la Jeunesse et des Sports (INJS) in Yaoundé, he rose to Cameroon’s national team and represented his country at the 2002 Amateur World Championships in Kazakhstan.
Malenou turned professional in France in November 2003. In June 2004 he won the French International Cup lightweight title, and returned the following year as a welterweight finalist. Known in the ring as « The Predator » for his aggressive style, he carried his career to the United States in 2008 — first to Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, New York, then to Las Vegas, where he trained at the Mayweather Boxing Club under the guidance of Floyd Mayweather Sr., with Floyd Mayweather Jr. a major influence on his defensive craft. Hand injuries and surgeries in 2015 and 2016 tested that chapter, but never ended the story.
He closed a 16-year professional career in Canada, fighting in Montreal in 2017 and Toronto in 2019 — and then built what the career had been preparing: Le Ring by Outsider, his Montreal boxing academy, where athletes of every level train for competition and for personal development, and the Le Ring Association, his non-profit working in Montreal, France and Cameroon.
Today, Stéphane leads Le Ring as Founder & CEO and works as a coach in personal development and sports management. He is currently pursuing sports management training with Sports Management Worldwide (SMWW), and has been collaborating with Nike Boxing since 2011. He personally coaches a limited number of exclusive clients, by application only, while Le Ring’s private and group programs are delivered by a coaching team trained in his method.
Every program at Le Ring carries that journey: Cameroon to Paris, New York to Las Vegas, and home to Montreal.
